Cannabinoid (CBD) is the main cannabinoid found in industrial hemp (Cannabis Sativa L.). In recent years, it is growing rapidly in popularity for its therapeutic potential of CBD, which has no psychotropic effects, nor is psychoactive (it is not a “drug”) and can even be used in high doses without causing any side effects.

CBD or Cannabinoid is the main active compound in hemp and unlike THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), it is not psychoactive, so it does not drug nor intoxicate. As you may already know, within the human body there is an endocannabinoid system, with receptors distributed throughout the human body and especially in the brain. THC activates the CB1 and CB2 receptors, while CBD does not stimulate these receptors directly.

Cannabinoid receptors are linked to a series of processes that occur inside the human body, such as the regulation of our mood, our sensitivity of pain, our appetite and memory. These receptors can be activated by endocannabinoids (produced by the human body itself) and by cannabinoid plants (such as those found in hemp or cannabis). These 2 groups can be categorized in: CB1 and CB2.

CB1 receptors are mainly found in the central nervous system and, and to less amount, in the liver, kidney and lungs. CB2 receptors are part of the immune system and also found in hematopoietic cells in the blood. CB1 receptors play an important role in the production and distribution of neurotransmitters, while psychoactive products stimulate these receptors. That is why synthesizing the products is the aim to avoid their activation.

Meanwhile, CB1 receptors are related to the Lipogenesis process that takes place in the liver and is of great importance in maintaining homeostasis (the balance of body functioning). Several studies revealed that CB1 also influences pleasure, concentration, appetite, memory, and pain tolerance. On the other hand, CB2 receptors affect the immune system, involved in a variety of functions such as immune suppression or apoptosis (programmed cell death). Certain studies claim that CB2 regulates pain sensitivity and could act against certain diseases, from kidney and liver problems to neurodegenerative diseases.

CBD does not stimulate any of the previously described receptors. Instead it activates other receptors such as adenosine, serotonin, vanilloid, and TRPV-1 receptors. Cannabidiol plays an important role in regulating the body’s temperature, reducing inflammation and pain sensitivity (6). In addition, CBD inhibits the enzyme FAAH, a compound that activates CB1 receptors, so CBD minimizes the activation of CB1 receptors by THC, reducing its psychoactive effects.

The activation of adenosine receptors by CBD has an anxiolytic and anti-inflammatory effect. Adenosine receptors are also related to the release of dopamine and glutamate, two very important neurotransmitters in the body. Dopamine has effects on cognition, motor control, motivation, and satisfaction mechanisms, while glutamate is one of the most important mediators of arousal signals and is involved in the processes of cognition, memory, and learning.

High concentrations of CBD have shown the activation of 5-HT1A serotonin receptors, which has anti-depressant effects. The same receptors are related to a number of processes: from the perception of pain, appetite, nausea and anxiety to the mechanisms of sleep and addiction in the brain.

CBD blocks CPR55 signals, reducing cancer cell proliferation and bone resorption. CPR55 is abundantly present in the brain and is associated with the modulation of bone density, blood pressure, and regulation of cancer cell proliferation.

Moreover, CBD blocks the psychoactive activation of THC, which is why combining CBD and THC is considered as very helpful for therapeutic reasons. However, it must be understood that the positive effects of cannabidiol do not depend on the presence of THC, so the benefits of CBD consumption can be purely enjoyed using products that do not contain any psychoactive forms.

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is psychoactive, while CBD (Cannabidiol) is not. Common effects of THC are euphoria, anxiety, and temporary memory loss. More important, CBD reduces the negative effects of THC. Another huge difference between THC and CBD is that high-THC cannabis is used for its doping effects that induce lethargy, while CBD is used to improve attention and awareness.

THC is the compound responsible for the intoxicating effect of hemp. A THC level of less than 1%, combined with any dose of CBD, is already considered as a Non-Psychoactive and has no consciousness-altering effect. Since our products contain less than 0.2% THC, they should not influence your ability to drive or perform in any possible way. But ultimately said, you are responsible for taking the final decision before getting behind the wheel or operating machineries.

Hemp is considered as safe to consume. It should not have any relevant side effects using CBD, but finally all depends on how your body tolerates and adapts to these dietary supplements. We recommend checking with a qualified medical professional before using any dietary supplement, including our organic CBD oil.

To preserve the purity of our raw hemp, we use highly efficient extraction methods using CO2. Not only does CO2 extraction improve the quality of CBD, it also preserves the full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, nutrients and antioxidants that the plant contains.

The THC concentration in cannabis oil is not significantly enough to affect you. Industrial hemp plants (Cannabis Sativa L.) generally contain a very small amounts of THC compared to marijuana. THC is the cannabinoid that a drug tests detect. By using urine tests they detect the metabolic products of THC. The test uses the presence of certain antibodies to detect THC and the metabolites produced by this compound, known by the complicated name ’11 -nor-delta9-caboxy-THC (THC-COOH) ‘. If the initial test states that your urine contains more than 50 nano grams (ng) of these substances, a gas chromatography / mass spectrometry (GC / MS) will be performed to confirm the final result. This test is intended to detect ’11 -nor-delta9-caboxy-THC (THC-COOH)’ and is not sensitive to other cannabinoid compounds, including CBD.
